I don’t think I can finish translating the next episode any time soon (by soon I mean, at least in the next three months).

So there you have it. Jupiter will be away (and probably is away) for a minimum of three months… I have absolutely no idea when episode 05 and 06 will be released. It is supposed to be prior to his absence, but Jupiter hasn’t replied, so mostly likely not. He did say I should ask another translator, so I have go hunting again… I have two potential people in my mind, blakbunnie27 (who has helped us with the last two released episodes) or mflatischler, who recommended to watch the anime via his blog. If not either, you and I (for the first time since my very first fansub, I actually enjoy subbing this anime) will have to wait until Jupiter is back OR maybe someone that understands the kansai dialect, has good understanding of 90’s lifestyle of Japan, and fairly good English shows up, we don’t have to wait.

In other news, Hoshi ni Negai wo: COLD BODY + WARM HEART may be out as early as in this month.

Seperti yang diketahui (atau tidak diketahui), harddisk yang digunakan untuk menampung anime sekarang totalnya ada 5:

• 2x 1TB
• 2x 640GB
• 1x 500GB

Dan hal yang paling mengerikan yang bisa terjadi adalah kerusakan harddisk. Ya, dulu pernah terjadi beberapa kali dan sudah memakan korban beberapa ratus giga anime >_> (dan ada beberapa yang sampai sekarang belum diupload ulang karena memang tidak ada backupnya).

Itu dulu kapasitas harddisk masih terbatas ~300GB dan kehilangan 300GB masih belum semengerikan jika kehilangan data… 1TB. Atau lebih. Dan FYI, harddisk yang paling murah per-GB untuk sekarang ini adalah harddisk 1.5TB.

Dengan resiko kehilangan data yang semakin banyak jika terus menggunakan sistem seperti ini, diputuskanlah (oleh 2 orang) bahwa sistem penyimpanan biggest harus diganti. Jika sebelumnya setiap harddisk memiliki struktur sendiri (/complete##, dimana ## adalah nomor harddisk), rencananya untuk sistem yang baru akan diubah sehingga semua harddisk dikombinasikan… dengan mampu bertahan (tidak ada data yang hilang) jika salah satu (atau dua) harddisk rusak.

RAID-Z, versi ZFS untuk RAID-5, sistem penyimpanan data yang mengkombinasikan beberapa harddisk sehingga mampu mempertahankan data meski salah satu harddisk rusak.

Untuk perbandingan, misal ada 3 harddisk dan masing-masing memiliki kapasitas 1TB. Dengan sistem yang digunakan sekarang, total kapasitas yang bisa digunakan adalah 3TB. Hanya saja saat salah satu harddisk rusak, semua data pada harddisk tersebut hilang – alias kehilangan data 1TB. Menggunakan RAID-Z, total kapasitas yang bisa digunakan hanya 2TB. Meskipun begitu, saat ada 1 harddisk yang rusak, tidak ada data yang hilang. Harddisk yang rusak tinggal dikirim untuk diperbaiki dan kemudian dipasang kembali seperti semula.

Untuk tambahan RAID-Z ini bisa digabung-gabung. 2 sistem RAID-Z bisa digabung sehingga jika ada 2 harddisk rusak dan berasal dari RAID-Z yang berbeda, masih tidak ada masalah. Sebenarnya opsinal tapi berhubung sudah menggunakan RAID-Z, sekalian saja dibuat seperti ini karena lebih mudah mengurusnya… (atau mungkin tidak, yang ini masih belum final).

Sayangnya dengan harddisk yang ada sekarang, sistemnya belum bisa diganti:

• RAID-Z memerlukan minimal 3 harddisk dengan kapasitas yang sama untuk dapat bekerja optimal
• Harddisk biggest sudah penuh semua

Jadi rencananya sistemnya akan dibuat seperti ini:

• RAID-Z (1): 3x 1.5TB
• RAID-Z (2): 3x 640GB
• RAID-Z (3): 3x 1TB (?)

Sehingga biggest akan memiliki kapasitas total 6.28TB (woot). Atau 4.28TB.

Membeli tambahan 3 harddisk 1.5TB (dan 1x 1TB dan tukar tambah 500GB ke 640GB) tidak murah… Perlu dana sekitar 4 (5) juta rupiah (pada saat post ini ditulis). Sementara dana yang sudah terkumpul baru 1.2 juta. Masih kurang 2.8 (3.8) juta lagi.

Opsi kedua tentunya dengan menjual 2 harddisk 1TB yang ada di biggest… asumsi dijual dengan @ 900rb masih kurang 1 juta lagi. Dan harddisknya belum bisa dijual karena isinya masih ada (orz). Apapun yang terjadi tetap harus mengumpulkan dana 2.8 juta dulu sebelum bisa mendapat tambahan dana dari penjualan harddisk.

Yap, menyumbanglah sekarang juga. Hubungi die untuk ketemu menyumbang langsung atau transfer via BNI, atau hubungi gw untuk menyumbang melalui BCA. Jumlahnya bebas, tetapi sebaiknya minimal seribu rupiah…

Semakin cepat terkumpul, semakin cepat pindah ke sistem yang baru, semakin rendah resiko kehilangan data.

DOUBLE RELEASE. Whut.

FIX FOR CHAPTER 57: it’s “training camp”, not “boarding house”. Both have same kanji but the former makes more sense. Don’t know why the translator chosen the latter one. Probably because it’s the first to shows up in his dictionary. Sorry for confusion (as if you’re not confused enough by my edit…).

Oh and I also forgot to mention the raw provider is same person as ch. 57 – Finestella from mangahelpers.

Now if I can find proper quality raw for ch. 60 and 61… (these chapters includes PLOT TWISTS. And WTF-ry. Made me went o_o) (hahahah spoiler)

Someone asked this in the channel and quit before I saw him asking (since I was trapped wiki walking certain site).

“I’m officially confused; the last chapter of Saki I saw was 33–how did we get to 57?”

Well, for starter, we started (more or less) at chapter 56. Basically, chapter 34 up to 56 is already (mostly?) covered in the anime.

It might bring another question: will we do the previous chapters?

Answer: I don’t know. Maybe we’ll do it if we get an editor and translator for these chapters. Chapter 52-55 is already cleaned, actually.

Another new year, another new recruitment post but with a slight twist… As you may know by now, anime-rg has been doing Yoiko for a while and according to the reviews from both people who understand Japanese and those who don’t, its a rather fun and entertaining show to see. Though, some are left dissatisfied and therefore want more of its kind. Thankfully, there are still a number of animes out there that suffice for the role and we would like to get our hands on it before it is not available any more in both the internet and stores…

Ore wa Chokkaku
~About a boy that wants to be or is a samurai following the dignified path. Entails comedy, Edo period, and may have nudity.

Two Conditions:
1. Need DVD-Box Set Raws.
2. Another translator (because 36 episodes is a bit too long and so we don’t take 6 years).

Maicching Machiko Sensei
~Exactly like Yoiko, but with a teacher as the protagonist who is quite voluptuous.

Two Conditions:
1. Find all raws (DVD preferred) without any scene croppings.
2. Multiple translators (because its freakin’ 95 episodes long and so we don’t take 10 years).

Ninku (Animation & Movie)

2. Multiple translators (because 55 + 1 episodes is too long and so we don’t take 8 years).

And yes, all three are by Studio Pierrot. I personally would like to watch the last two subbed or raw. tl;dr – Help us look for raws mentioned above and potential people to help us in them.

Scratch that. Translator for Yoiko, Jupiter-san will be away due to priorities on his education for a minimum of three months starting March, so no new series from anime-rg even after we finish it. Although, I have a bunch of OVA one-shots I would like to see done after we finish Yoiko as the bloke who stated he would do all of them has gone MIA. Cheers.

To my own surprise, a week prior to the recent release, I received an email concerning Yoiko from this particular person who after 12 years is happy to see the anime subbed in English. Kyle from Geek Tragedy emailed me stating he had seen it long ago when he was in Japan, but after that could not find it anywhere subbed or raw. I would like to thank you GT on behalf of Jupiter_RingsID who agreed to translate it on request, and the four other team members, including myself of ray=out. Without them, and especially Gritoit (not a subber) who first mentioned it, the anime would still not be subbed to this day. That said, I have two new episodes ready for download (was actually yesterday), so if you are able to download from IRC, go to #ray=out on irc.rizon.net. We will not host any of the Yoiko releases on Megaupload, so your option is to download from my bot if you want the early release… Or wait until it gets distributed via torrents.
