Genshiken ITB is a craftsmanship-based student activity group underneath Bandung Institute of Technology’s jurisdiction whose activities and motions are directed toward the creative industry and the studies of the modern visual culture, which includes (but not limited to) literacy studies, illustrational studies, game studies and development, music appreciation and composition, cosplaying, fansubbing, and scanlating. The name Genshiken ITB itself was partly derived and inspired by a popular Kio Shimoku manga of a same name, of which the founding fathers of Genshiken ITB had a vision to aggrandize the world of craftmanship-based creative industry which wasn’t as popular as it is now back then.

Ever since Genshiken ITB first retained its permanent activity group status on July 25th, 2005, Genshiken ITB always aims to deliver the best upon innovating and actively contributing towards the development of the modern visual culture in a positive manner, be it in a local or an international scale. Over the years, various encharming artworks and multiple prestigious events has been successfully conjured upon by Genshiken ITB staffs – for example, Indonesia’s first large-scale Hatsune Miku MMD Concert (live at the Gen-Reon 2013 event) and the intercity comic exhibition Pasar Komik Bandung 4 feat. Gen-X (which was done thanks to Pasar Komik Bandung’s cooperation in coexistance with Genshiken ITB). Furthermore, Genshiken ITB also participates regularly in various prominent creative industry-related events, such as MangaFest UGM and Toys & Games Republic.
